Jay-Z has reportedly changed the selection of what would have been his first official single. Instead of going ahead with the original song that featured current Young Money artist Drake , he has opted to use a different song that features label mates Rihanna, and Kanye West. The song titled "Run This Town" will be released this Friday 7/24. No one really knows why the Hip Hop mogul changed his release schedule, but *Lady G* on her Rumors page says it may be due to industry drama. After all, Drake is the hottest Rapper alive right now.
Lady GaGa is by far one of the hottest new Pop artists on the market as you read this. Her first 3 singles; Just Dance, Poker Face, and Love Game has dominated the charts domestically and internationally for over 5 months. Now she has become the third artist in the 16-year history of the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart to collect three No. 1 songs from a debut album. Her debut album "The Fame" has reportedly sold well over 1 million copies according to Nielsen Soundscan.
To this date Epic Records has still not announced any word on how they are going to market and promote Shakira's new album that is due for release in October. *Lady G* has said in her latest Rumors page that the Latin music market has been hit hard! Despite of the free download campaign of her first single "She Wolf" early this month, Epic seems to be at a stand still with how much they are willing to spend, and what they are going to do with Shakira's upcoming album.
Wisin Y Yandel by far is the best selling duo in Reggaeton, and maybe even in Latin music all together. El duo dinamico (The dynamic duo) were just recognized for selling well over 10 million downloads throughout their career. Recently, up until Paulina Rubio released her "Causa Y Efecto" (Cause and effect), Wisin y Yandel held the # 1 spot on the Latin charts for several weeks with their hit "Abusadora." Even with their drop on the charts, Abusadora still remains the # 1 song on Latin airplay.
