Sony is very, very, very busy! - Sony is about to make a decision that can potentially have a HUGE impact on the music industry. CD's for $6.00! Get with the program people. - Sony has decided it will play a major role in the future of indie distributor Ioda's future. They just recently invested serious money into Ioda's business operations. It's a no brainer! Go to Ioda. That's if they will accept you. - Roc Nation has officially inked a distribution deal with Sony. *My opinion* Jay-z is more than just a business. HE IS THE BUSINESS. The leverage he has in the music industry with this deal is out of this world. - All UK radio stations will switch from analog to digital by 2015. *My opinion* if you think this has nothing to do with you (U.S.A) you must not take the music business seriously. Research what's going on in America with radio stations being forced out of business. - According to Nielsen Soundscan, CD sales are down -21% this year for the same time period during 2008. To put that in other numbers, that's from 172,166,000 to 135,658,000. Digital sales for the same time period rose 18.9%. Albums are down -14.4%, and digital singles are up 13%. *My opinion* this information should be a wake up call for you upcoming musicians. |
